Vol. 249 No. 1

Written Answers. - National School Amenities.

369.

asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools, as of the latest available date, which are not equipped with electric current and inside toilets and which have open fires.

Of a total number of 4,150 national schools in operation during the school year 1969-70, it is estimated that approximately 900 schools were not equipped with electric current and 1,600 were heated by open fires.

Available information does not enable me to say in how many of these schools there are inside toilets, that is, toilets incorporated in the school building proper.
