Vol. 249 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cashel (Tipperary) Housing.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the number of people in need of rehousing at Cashel, County Tipperary; what steps have been taken to deal with the matter; and to what extent the County Council are engaged in co-operating with Cashel Urban Council in dealing with the problem of all those in need of rehousing in the urban area and the surrounding district.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to his question No. 50 of 25th February, 1970, regarding housing needs in the Cashel urban area. I understand that the urban council are providing 20 developed sites for private houses, and that plans are being prepared by them for a scheme of 15 houses. No housing proposals involving joint action by Cashel Urban District Council and the county council have been submitted to my Department. Housing authorities generally have been made aware of the need for such co-operation particularly in the smaller urban areas.
