I assume that what the Deputy wishes to know is the taxation per capita arising out of the cost of Government both central and local. Following are figures on this basis for the year 1970, which is the latest date for which comparable material on the present member States of the EEC is readily available. (It should be borne in mind that comparisons of this nature are, to some extent, subject to qualification because of exchange rates variations, differences in definitions and other considerations.)
