Vol. 368 No. 11

Estimates, 1986. - Vote 6: National Gallery (Revised Estimate).

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £669,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 1986 for the salaries and expenses of the National Gallery including certain grants-in-aid.

Vote put and agreed to.

I would like to take this opportunity to express the thanks of the House to the staff who have had to work longer hours than usual. They deserve our gratitude over the weeks. I wish everybody a good summer holiday.

I agree with the Taoiseach. From this side of the House I express our thanks, gratitude and appreciation also. A word of appreciation to your good self, a Cheann Comhairle. I hope you will have a reasonable rest from the trials and tribulations of this House for a few short weeks.

I would like to wish all the Members of the House a very happy, pleasant and relaxed holiday. I appreciate the good wishes that have been extended to me. I am always sent home full of hope in the belief that when I come back it will be child's play. It does not always materialise.

The Dáil adjourned at 4.20 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 October 1986.
