Irish Wheelchair Association before Health Committee to discuss Cuisle closure

The chief executive officer of the Irish Wheelchair Association, Rosemary Keogh will appear before the Joint Committee on Health tomorrow, Thursday, to discuss the proposed closure of the Cuisle Accessible Holiday and Respite Care Resort.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee chairman, Dr Michael Harty TD said: “The proposed closure of the Cuisle centre in Donamon, County Roscommon, which is a holiday and respite resort for people with disabilities, has sparked protests and is causing serious and understandable concern.

“We want to hear from the Irish Wheelchair Association on this issue and question the reasons behind the proposed closure, the repercussions of this decision on staff and guests and plans for alternative services.”

The meeting will take place in Leinster House, Committee room 2 at 2.30pm. Watch the meeting live.
