The Joint Committee on Health will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 23rd November for Pre-legislative scrutiny of the General Scheme of the Health (Amendment) Bill 2022 at 9:30am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.
The Committee will hear from representatives from the Department of Health.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach, Deputy Seán Crowe TD said “the meeting tomorrow will give our Committee the opportunity to discuss the General Scheme of the Health Bill with officials from the Department of Health. The purpose of the Bill is to give effect to the COVID-19 Nursing Homes Expert Panel report, which made a series of recommendations in relation to the response to COVID-19, and to reforms across the nursing home sector. Its aim is to enhance aspects of the regulatory framework for designated centres, including residential centres for older persons people with disabilities and children.
The Committee will be keen to see that the Bill will provide for the necessary improvements for people living in these centres.”
