Building Modern Ireland

Introduction

A quick search of our OPAC [online catalogue] for material in our collections dating from our foundation as a new, literally, Free State in 1922 to the present, allows a re-examination of a range of circumstances and conditions as well as opening up pressing questions concerning the nation, its’ history and future. In doing so, familiar histories may be superseded by more varied, exploratory journeys and interpretations that link the history of the past and the present together emerge.
