Select Committee to consider European Communities (Amendment) Bill 2012

The Oireachtas Select Committee on European Union Affairs will tomorrow meet to consider the European Communities (Amendment) Bill 2012.

The bill deals with:

• ratification of Article 136 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
• increase in the number of Spanish MEPs
• Croatian accession
• the Irish guarantees on the Lisbon Treaty.

Chairman of the Select Committee Dominic Hannigan TD said: “Our Select Committee has an important role in fully considering important EU developments and initiatives affecting Ireland. Tomorrow’s meeting will allow us an opportunity to consider the European Communities (Amendment) Bill 2012, which is at the third stage of the five-stage legislative process.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 14 June at 11:30 a.m. in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.
