Petitions Committee to consider public health petition with NSAI and Department Officials

The Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions will tomorrow meet with representatives of the National Standards Authority of Ireland and Officials from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government to consider public petition P00040/14. This is a petition which calls for an examination of possible links between disease rates and central heating systems that are connected to a householder’s water supply.

06th October 2015

Chairman of the Committee, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD, said “I look forward to meeting with the National Standards Authority of Ireland and Department Officials to discuss the substance of this petition. This petition is one which looks at possible links between the installation of central heating systems and the contamination of the domestic water supply.”

“Specifically, the petitioner has asked for an examination of single check non-return valves and the absence of regulation around their use and I look forward to hearing from the NSAI and the Department Officials on this. This is another excellent example of how members of the public can utilise the Petitions process to bring their issues directly to Parliament.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 07th October at 4 pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.

Public proceedings can be followed live here.

The meeting will also be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV on Sky Channel 574; Virgin Media Channel 207 and eir Vision Channel 504.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
