Petitions Committee to Continue Deliberations on a Range of Public Petitions

The Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions will tomorrow conduct a two-part meeting to consider a range of public petitions and also meet with the Pensions Ombudsman, Mr. Paul Kenny, to discuss his report to the Committee entitled ‘Report to the Houses of the Oireachtas made under Section 139(6) of the Pensions Act 1990 as amended’.

1.    [P00025/15] Human Refugee Crisis (Mr. Eoin Cannon)
2.    [P00026/15] Refugee Crisis (Mr. Robert Cannon)
3.    [P00027/15] Keep Syrian ‘Refugees’ out of Ireland (Miss Fionna Green)
4.    [P00029/14] Introduce a Childcare Tax Credit in the next Budget (Mrs. Sonya Boyd)
5.    [P00032/14] Introduce lottery taxation to generate revenue; eliminating USC (Mrs Geraldine Morrissey)
6.    [P00011/15] Women need more scans during pregnancy (Ms. Laura Kelly)
7.    [P00071/12] Height of Leylandii trees (Dr.  Jean Clarke)
8.    [P00070/12] Overhanging trees (Mr. Denis Moran)
9.    [P00050/12] Height Restrictions on Trees in neighbouring gardens (Mr.  Michael Byrne)

Committee Chairman, Pádraig MacLochlainn TD, said “This meeting is a good reflection of the broad range of both complex and current issues that are brought to the Petitions Committee. We will tomorrow discuss a group of petitions on the ongoing migrant crisis, petitions on Irish taxation, a petition on the Irish health care system and then a grouping of Petitions on property rights that the Committee have worked on since the Committee’s inception.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 14th October at 4 pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.
