Finance Committee to hear from the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council on their most recent assessment report

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure & Reform will tomorrow hear from representatives from the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (IFAC) on the findings of their most recent Fiscal Assessment Report. This report follows the October announcement of Budget 2016.

02 December 2015

The meeting will commence at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Thursday, 3 December 2015.
Chairman of the Committee, Liam Twomey T.D., said “When we met with IFAC in June of this year they presented to us the findings of their Assessment Report following the 2015 Stability Programme Update. This engaging meeting allowed us to hear about a range of issues including some concerns around the assumptions underpinning economic planning in the medium term. We look forward to an update on how IFAC feel this has been addressed.”

“Tomorrow we turn our focus to IFAC’s considered opinion and critical analysis of the policy objectives put forward by Budget 2016. Committee Members very much welcome this opportunity to hear IFAC’s independent assessment and engage fully in discussion of this important Fiscal Assessment Report.”

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

The meeting will also be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV on Sky Channel 574; Virgin Media Channel 207 and eir Vision Channel 504.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
