Education Committee to discuss operation of the School Transport Scheme

The Joint Committee on Education and Skills will focus on matters relating to the operation of the School Transport Scheme at its meeting tomorrow, Tuesday 11 July 2017.

Issues for discussion may include:

• the selection criteria/rules (relating to the awarding of contracts);
• catchment areas;
• special needs requirements; and
• eligibility of students who can avail of the service.

Attending the meeting are: Officials from the Department of Education and Skills and Representatives from Bus Éireann; the National Council for Special Education (NCSE); the National Parents' Council Primary; the National Parents' Council Post-Primary; and the National Association of Boards of Management in Special Education (NABMSE).

The meeting will commence at 4.00pm in Committee Room 2 tomorrow, Tuesday 11 July 2017.
