17 December 2015: Second Report on Volatility in the Dairy Sector The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine prioritised an examination of the dairy industry in light of the abolition of EU milk quotas at the end of March 2015. The Joint Committee published a report in March 2015 entitled 'Managing Market Volatility in the Dairy Industry' and following on from this, the Joint Committee agreed to re-examine the state of the industry six months after the abolition of the milk quotas, and thus re-invite relevant stakeholders to ascertain the current condition of the dairy market.
17 December 2015: Final Report on the Organic Farming Scheme The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine (the Joint Committee) has examined the organic farming sector. As part of its work programme in 2015, the Joint Committee prioritised an examination of organic farming and decided to engage with the relevant stakeholders regarding the new Organic Farming Scheme of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM).
23 June 2015: CAP Simplification – A contribution in the context of political dialogue The Committee welcomes the plan by the Commission to lift the administrative burden on farmers through simplification and as a matter of principle believes that the simplification agenda should be farmer-centred.
19 March 2015: Annual Report Final 2014 At its meeting on 15 January 2014, the Joint Committee agreed that all these items should be included in this report covering the period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014.
20 November 2014: Report on Land Use- Maximising its Potential Policy choices at government and farm level now will be crucial to ensuring Ireland can lead the EU-wide challenge to balance food security and climate change objectives in the coming decades, according to the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The report points to the growing importance of afforestation and the use of agricultural soils as carbon sinks in Ireland’s land mix.
23 October 2014: Report on the General Scheme of the Horse Racing Ireland (Amendment) Bill 2014 The new structures of Horse Racing Ireland must adequately represent the interests of the diverse stakeholders involved in the industry, according to a new report by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The Committee identified the new statutory sub-Committee structure as providing for various stakeholders to ensure their voice is given regard to at Board level.
14 January 2014: Sustaining Coastal and Island Communities The Report was launched by the Joint sub-Committee on Fisheries on Inis Oírr on Tuesday 14 January. It calls for government policy to focus on the survival of rural coastal and island communities by promoting a diverse range of activities. It outlines how aquaculture, inshore fishing, sea angling, marine tourism and seaweed activities can contribute to vibrant coastal and island areas.
23 October 2013: Report on the Grocery Goods Sector The report calls for a statutory code of conduct in the grocery good sector, underpinned by an independent supermarket Ombudsman and with access to cost-effective legal supports for small and medium enterprises.
