The 31st Dáil was dissolved on Wednesday, 3 February 2016.

The 24th Seanad will continue until 24 April 2016.

Remit

This Committee has a very broad remit and will shadow the activities of two Government departments and their associated bodies (see below for the list of bodies):

• Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht
• Department of Environment, Community and Local Government

Public Policy

Important areas of public policy in the areas covered by these Departments include:

• achieving balanced regional development;
• local representation and planning matters;
• environmental protection;
• climate change;
• promoting the development of Gaeltacht areas;
• promoting the culture and heritage of Ireland.
