Cúrsaí Bainte Feamainne in Éirinn agus Ceadúnú an Chéanna

Ag an gcruinniú den Chomhchoiste um Chomhshaol, Cultúr agus Gaeltacht a bhí ann an 10 Meitheamh 2014, chomhaontaigh an Coiste breithniú a dhéanamh ar an ábhar ‘Cúrsaí Bainte Feamainne in Éirinn agus Ceadúnú an Chéanna’. Chomhaontaigh an Coiste cuireadh a thabhairt do na heagraíochtaí seo a leanas an Coiste a aitheasc ar an ábhar seo ag an gcruinniú a bheas aige an 8 Iúil 2014:-

(1)    Arramara Teoranta,
(2)    Bioatlantis Ltd,
(3)    Carraig Fhada Seaweed,
(4)    Cearta Cladaigh Chonamara,
(5)    Irish Seaweed Processors Ltd,
(6)    MB Quinn Ltd,
(7)    Ocean Harvest Technology,
(8)    Údarás na Gaeltachta;

Ina theannta sin, chomhaontaigh an Coiste aighneachtaí i scríbhinn maidir leis an ábhar seo a iarraidh ar dhaoine eile den phobal agus ar eagraíochtaí eile ar spéis leo an t-ábhar seo. Iarrann an Coiste orthu siúd a dhéanfaidh aighneachtaí déanamh de réir na gcoinníollacha seo a leanas:-

  • Ní mór aighneachtaí a chur faoi bhráid an Choiste faoi 5.00pm Dé hAoine an 25 Iúil 2014 ar a dhéanaí;
  • Ní mór na haighneachtaí a dhéanamh i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla nó sa dá theanga;
  • Ní mór do na haighneachtaí a bheith cruinn agus bainteach le hábhar agus ní mór dóibh gan déileáil ach amháin go sonrach le cúrsaí bainte feamainne in Éirinn agus ceadúnú an chéanna;
  • Ní mór aighneachtaí a shíniú agus beidh iontu ainm, seoladh agus sonraí teagmhála an duine nó na ndaoine agus/nó na heagraíochta nó na n-eagraíochtaí a dhéanann an aighneacht.


Forchoimeádann an Coimisiún aige féin an ceart eisiach chun cuireadh a thabhairt dóibh siúd a dhéanann aighneachtaí i scríbhinn ar an ábhar seo, nó gan cuireadh a thabhairt dóibh, an Coiste a aitheasc ina diaidh sin ag cruinniú dá éis sin. Déanfaidh an Coiste a chinntí ina leith sin i Seisiún Príobháideach agus ní rachaidh sé i mbun pléití le tríú páirtithe i ndáil lena chinntí maidir leo siúd a roghnaíonn sé cuireadh a thabhairt, nó gan cuireadh a thabhairt, dóibh an Coiste a aitheasc.

Maidir le cibé doiciméid a sholáthrófar don Choiste le linn dó breithniú a dhéanamh ar an ábhar seo, féadfaidh an Coiste, dá rogha féin, iad a fhoilsiú.

The Licensing and Harvesting of Seaweed in Ireland

At its meeting on 10 June 2014, the Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht agreed to consider the topic ‘The Licensing and Harvesting of Seaweed in Ireland’.  The Committee agreed to invite the following organisations to address it on this topic at its meeting on 8 July 2014:-

(1)    Arramara Teoranta,
(2)    Bioatlantis Ltd,
(3)    Carraig Fhada Seaweed,
(4)    Cearta Cladaigh Chonamara,
(5)    Irish Seaweed Processors Ltd,
(6)    MB Quinn Ltd,
(7)    Ocean Harvest Technology,
(8)    Údarás na Gaeltachta;

The Committee also agreed to request written submissions on this topic from other members of the public and from other organisations with an interest in this topic.  The Committee requests that the following conditions be adhered by those making submissions:-

  • Submissions must be received by 5.00 pm on Friday 25 July 2014 at the latest;
  • Submissions must be submitted in Irish or in English or in both languages;
  • Submissions must be concise and to the point and deal only with the specific subject of the licensing and harvesting of seaweed in Ireland;
  • Submissions must be signed and must contain the name, address and contact details of the person or persons and or organisation or organisations making the submission.

The Committee reserves the exclusive right to invite or not to invite those who submit written submissions on this topic to subsequently address the Committee at a subsequent meeting.  The Committee will make its decisions in this regard in Private Session and will not engage in discussion with third parties on its decisions as to who it chooses to invite or not to invite to address it.

The Committee may, at its own discretion, publish any documents provided to it in its consideration of this topic.
