Role of the Joint Committee on Finance and Public Expenditure

Reform and public expenditure will be among the highest priorities for this Oireachtas and the Committee on Finance and Public Expenditure will play an important function in scrutinising the work of the Department of Finance as well as devising concrete progressive proposals to promote and coordinate economic and social planning.

The Committee examines issues of current interest within its remit and will usually produce a report setting out its findings and making recommendations to the Government.
