Select Committee on Arrangements for Budgetary Scrutiny

On 5 May 2016, the Dáil agreed to establish a Select Committee -- the Select Committee on Arrangements for Budgetary Scrutiny -- to consider the arrangements that may be necessary or appropriate with a view to ensuring ongoing engagement by the Houses of the Oireachtas and its committees in a manner intended to increase the capacity of the Houses to exercise influence and achieve accountability throughout the budgetary cycle.
In discharging its remit, the Committee is required to have regard to the proposals made in the OECD report, Review of Budget Oversight by Parliament: Ireland (November 2015) and such submissions as may be referred to it by the Sub-Committee on Dáil Reform.

The Committee is required to report to the Sub-Committee on Dáil Reform within 35 days of the announcement of members nominated to serve on it.
