This Committee shadows the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. It plays an important role in considering policy and providing an input into legislation which contibutes to balanced regional development and the economic, social and cultural enhancement of rural Ireland and the Gaeltacht, as well as promoting the arts.

The next meeting of the Joint Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs will meet in Public Session on Wednesday 29 March 2017 at 2.15 p.m. in CR4 to discuss the future of community, social and economic development and co-operation in border counties [Session A: i) Border Community Against Brexit,  ii) Irish Small and Medium Enterprises' Association Session B: CBI Northern Ireland
