Select Committee on Budgetary Oversight

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight was established in July 2016 to enhance the role of the Oireachtas in the budgetary formation process. The Committee will review the macro-economic and fiscal issues that form part of budget considerations.

This includes; the need for sustainable public finances, the limitations, if any, arising from the  application of national and EU fiscal rules and the capacity of the State to change fiscal policy arising from economic growth and also demographic and other pressures on the spending side.

The Committee may make recommendations to the Government suggesting changes to revenue raising, or expenditure.

What's on this week

The next meeting of the Committee will take place on Wednesday the 25th of October at 2pm.

The Committee will meet with representatives from Social Justice Ireland concerning equality budgeting.
