
Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture
This Committee has an extremely wide brief covering several matters of national importance and shadowing two government departments.
It has a key role to play in helping to shape and influence the agenda as well as scrutinising some of the most important activities in areas such as the Common Agricultural Policy; the Common Fisheries Policy; harnessing hydrocarbon, mineral resources and renewable energy resources; the provision of broadband services and the implementation of a smart grid.

What's on this weekWeek commencing Monday 21st of May 2012 (Note changes to meeting times below from those flagged earlier in the week) The Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture, will hold three meetings this week. The first meeting will be held in Committee 3, Leinster House 2000, on Tuesday afternoon at 2.00 p.m., on the Report on Investigation Pursuant to Section 53 of the Broadcasting Act 2009 – in respect of the Programme “Prime Time Investigates – Mission to Prey”: with Mr Tom Savage, Chairman and Mr Noel Curran, Director General of RTE. This is a continuation of the meeting held last week with RTE. The planned second meeting to be held in Committee Room 2, on Wednesday morning in private session has now been moved to the following day,Thursday 24th of May, to discuss a number of issues including the Committee's views on recommendations for the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. The Committee will publish a Political Contribution on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2014 to 2020 shortly. The recommendations arise out of a number of meetings held recently with the key stakeholders in the industry. The planned meeting to be held in Committee Room 3, on Thursday afternoon at 2.30 p.m. has been postponed to Wednesday 6th of June and will deal with the 2012 Revised Estimate for Public Services - Vote 29 – (Communications, Energy and Natural Resources) with Mr. Pat Rabbitte T.D., Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, in attendance. |
