This new Committee has an extremely wide brief covering several matters of national importance and shadowing two government departments. It has a key role to play in helping to shape and influence the agenda as well as scrutinising some of the most important activities in areas such as the impact of climate change on agriculture; forestry; food labelling; developing an aqualculture industry; the provision of broadband services, renewable energy and the implementation of a smart grid:
As well as examining EU business and policy priorities, the Committee can also consider other policy issues and has identified three major topics for examination:The Committee will produce a report on these issues, setting out its findings and making recommendations to the Government.
