Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection

‌This Committee has a broad remit in shadowing two key Government Departments. It seeks to provide a meaningful input into legislation and policy, with a number of  goals such as:

  • Ensuring Ireland’s education system benefits all of society and is recognised internationally as a top class system
  • Ensuring that our most vulnerable citizens are protected by a strong and equitable social welfare system.
  • Supporting economic recovery and social renewal.  

The Committee also regularly engages with EU institutions to monitor and influence the political and strategic direction of the Union as a whole. View Committee's Orders of Reference

The Joint Committee will meet on Wednesday, 7 October.  Items on the agenda include:

  • Engagement with Chairperson designate of An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta
  • Report of the Irish Mathematics Learning Support Network (IMLSN) - “Student Evaluation of Mathematics Learning Support: insights from a large multi-institutional survey”.
