Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection

‌This Committee has a broad remit in shadowing two key Government Departments. It seeks to provide a meaningful input into legislation and policy, with a number of  goals such as:

  • Ensuring Ireland’s education system benefits all of society and is recognised internationally as a top class system
  • Ensuring that our most vulnerable citizens are protected by a strong and equitable social welfare system.
  • Supporting economic recovery and social renewal.

9he next meeting of the Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection will take place on Wednesday 29th April 2015 in Committee Room 3 at 1.00 p.m. in LH2000

The topics under discussion will be - 

Difficulties faced by persons seeking to establish that they meet medical eligibility criteria when they apply for illness or disability related social protection payments [Disability Federation of Ireland; Irish Medical Organisation; Carers Association; and Department of Social Protection]
