Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands 

The Oireachtas Standing Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands is dedicated to promoting the use of Irish as a vernacular language in every aspect of Irish life.  It promotes the use of Irish in the community, in the arts, in education, in sport, in business, in the media and in politics.  The Committee is working towards providing a meaningful and visible reality to the Irish language’s status as Ireland’s first official language.
