Visit Leinster House

Restricted tours due to restoration works on Georgian Leinster House

Visitors are advised that due to the ongoing restoration works, historic Leinster House is closed and our capacity for tours is reduced. However the Oireachtas remains open, and visitors can tour the public galleries of Dáil Éireann and the relocated Seanad.  There will be two tours per day when the Dáil and Seanad are not sitting, commencing at the following times: 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.

All visitors must enter through the visitors’ entrance on Kildare Street.

The Houses of the Oireachtas provides 30-minute guided tours of Leinster House throughout the year. All tours are free of charge. There are two types of visits that can be arranged:

  1. Visits sponsored by a TD or Senator
  2. Walk-up tours for people living in the State or visitors to Ireland

To book a tour or request more information, contact event.desk@oireachtas.ie or (01) 618 3271 / 3781.

Enhanced security arrangements

Please allow a little extra time when you visit Leinster House while we introduce enhanced security at our visitors’ entrance on Kildare Street. All visitors who do not hold a valid Oireachtas passcard will now be asked to walk through a metal detector and we will pass bags through an x-ray.

We hope not to inconvenience our visitors while we adjust to the new measures, and you can help by arriving in good time and leaving bulky bags at home

Walk-up Guided Tours

Walk-up tours of Leinster House are available on Mondays and Fridays (if the House is not sitting) at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm. Each tour is limited to the first 30 people who have booked a place or who arrive to the Kildare St gate.

To reserve a place on a tour, email event.desk@oireachtas.ie with your name, address, email address and contact telephone number.

2. Please notify us if you or a member of your group has any special requirements (e.g. disability access).
3. Please arrive at the Kildare St gate 15 minutes before the start of tour.

Visitors to Ireland
Visitors to Ireland can visit Leinster House by participating in the walk-up guided tours.

What does a guided tour involve?
The tour focuses on the history of the building and the traditions of Ireland’s rich parliamentary heritage. An usher accompanies visitors through the building and, where possible, includes a visit to the public galleries of the Dáil and Seanad debating chambers. The tour duration is 30 minutes approximately.

People wishing to take a tour of Leinster House can do so by contacting their local TD or Senator with details of the preferred date and time, the number in the party and the name and contact details of the lead person in the group.
