Travel Report | UCD Lyons Farm

The Committee reports on its visit to the UCD Lyons Farm facility at Celbridge in Kildare, where members sought to gain insight on the environmental sustainability of livestock production being undertaken on the farm.

The visit provided valuable insight into innovative farming practices that could help Ireland achieve emissions targets while supporting viable agriculture.

Solar energy and the agricultural industry

The Committee indicates that although farmers have an opportunity to generate solar energy at every scale, a disjointed regulatory and support framework can make adoption burdensome.

It outlines key areas where reform is required to incentivise solar energy production in the sector, with a focus on ensuring the regulatory process is as streamlined as possible.
