Vol. F No. 3

AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION - AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 2 (b).

EAMONN DE VALERA (East Clare) moved, and M. O COILEAIN (Cork, South) seconded, that Article 2 (b) of the Constitution should be amended to read as follows:—
"The Ministry shall consist of a President of the Ministry elected by Dáil Eireann, and not more than nine Executive Officers, including:—
A Secretary of Finance,
A Secretary of Home Affairs.
A Secretary of Foreign Affairs,
A Secretary of National Defence,
each of whom the President shall nominate and have power to dismiss."
An objection that this motion was not within the terms of the notice was overruled.
The House divided on the proposed amendment, and the motion was declared carried.
