Vol. F No. 17

RATIFICATION OF ASSISTANT MINISTER FOR IRISH.

CATHAL BRUGHA (Waterford County) stated that the Committee exercised all due vigilance in the matter of the appointments. They had necessarily to be guided to a large extent by the views of the local people. Owing to the inability of the Secretary for Irish to devote sufficient time to the duties of the position, Proinnsias O Fathaigh (Galway, South) had been appointed as Assistant Minister at the same salary as that allowed to Heads of Departments, viz., £400 per annum. He now formally moved that the Dáil ratify the appointment.
P. O MAILLE (Connemara) seconded the motion.
The motions for the adoption of the Report and the ratification of the appointment of Proinsias O Fathaigh (Galway, South) as Assistant Minister for Irish were then put and carried.
