To ask the Minister for Agriculture whether it is intended to reorganise the Department of Agriculture so as to bring it into closer touch with the needs of Irish farmers, and, if so, whether it is intended to take into consideration the methods and results of similar departments in other countries, with a view to the more scientific treatment of Agriculture in Ireland.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - SCIENTIFIC TREATMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
(replying for Minister for Agriculture): The reply is, when the proper time arrives it is the intention of the Government to reorganise the Government Departments, including the Department of Agriculture, and to take into consideration the method of similar departments in other countries with a view to the more scientific treatment of agriculture in Ireland.
