CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - IRISH CLASSES IN WATERFORD.

SEAN BUITLEIR

To ask the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the cause of the delay in forwarding sanction for the special scheme for Irish classes, which is incorporated in the general scheme for Technical Instruction for County Waterford, and if he can now say when the necessary sanction will be available.

Mr. KEVIN O'HIGGINS

(in the absence of the Minister for Agriculture) replied: Approval has been given in principle to the special scheme for Irish classes, but as the Technical Instruction Committee had included Government grants, which are not available, for cost of living bonus to whole-time teachers, and temporary additional remuneration of part-time teachers, it has been found necessary to ask them to submit revised proposals for only such expenditure as can be met from the funds which are available.
