Vol. 1 No. 29

ESTIMATES. - TEMPORARY COMMISSIONS.

The next Estimate is one to pay the salaries and other expenses of Temporary Commissions, Committees, and Special Inquiries. There are three temporary Commissions, dealing with the Post Office, the Railways, and the Constitution Committee. The Constitution Committee has finished, the Railway Commission has finished, and the Post Office Commission is about halfway through its work. I move that the Estimate be passed.

What about this question of the Constitution Committee?

That is finished now. It sat, I think, in the early months of the year, and produced a report in a comparatively short space of time. A very ornamental member of that Committee now adorns this Dáil.

LIAM de ROISTE

It does seem extraordinary that this Dáil should be called upon to pay for this Commission, seeing the result.

It is mainly for salaries, wages, and allowances, £800. It is a relatively small amount. I think we got good value for the money.
