Vol. 2 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - MOTOR TAX.

To ask the Minister for Finance whether, pending its being found practicable to introduce a measure placing the tax on Motor Vehicles on the amount of Petrol consumed, i.e., on the Petrol imported into the country, he is prepared to consider the advisability of giving some relief to Motor Users, by reducing the Tax of £1 per horse power to 10s. per horse power, under the existing method of taxation, when introducing the Budget and Finance Act for 1923-1924.

The suggestion in the question will be considered, but it is not possible to give any indication at this stage as to what proposals will or will not be included by the Executive Council in the Budget for next financial year.
