WRITTEN ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION FOR EDENDERRY MEN.

To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a number of members of the I.R.A. from Edenderry and district left their employment at the request of the Commandant of the 6th Brigade in July last for the purposes of assisting the forces of the Provisional Government in protecting the lives and property of the people in the area; whether he has received any application for payment or compensation owing to loss of wages during their period of such temporary service, and when it is his intention to deal with this claim.

Applications have been received for payment of the men in question. They are being dealt with.
