Vol. 2 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - REPARATIONS COMMISSION CHAIRMANSHIP.

To ask the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that, owing to the recent resignation of Lord Shaw from the Chairmanship of the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Ireland) Commission, cases in which legal points arise cannot be heard and ruled on; and if the Minister can state when he expects the vacancy in the Chairmanship to be filled, and the Commission fully competent to deal with all cases awaiting adjudication.

The appointment of a successor to Lord Shaw as Chairman of the Commission referred to is under consideration, and it is expected that the appointment will be made shortly. It is understood that no general inconvenience has been occasioned by Lord Shaw's resignation in the manner described in the question.
