Vol. 2 No. 23

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - DESTRUCTION OF SLIGO RAILWAY STATION.

To ask the Minister for Defence when he proposes to explain to this Dáil the amazing circumstances of Sligo railway station being destroyed, although a garrison of the National Army was in the town?

The occurrence is one which has very serious aspects, and a statement cannot be made in this matter at present, having due regard to the general public interest, and to that of individuals. I regret I cannot suggest a date by which it might be possible to do so.

I desire to ask the Minister if it is his intention to give this information to the Dáil, and if he agrees that when these inquiries are completed such a statement will be given to the Dáil.

My intentions and the things I would agree to, are governed very much by the development of the circumstances of the present situation, and I cannot at the moment give an answer to the Deputy.
