Vol. 2 No. 29

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE.

To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that no Dependent's Allowance has yet been made to Mrs. Mary Gormley, of Aughadrumderg, Mohill, Co. Leitrim, on behalf of her son, Francis Joseph Gormley, who joined the Longford Brigade, 1st Midland Division of the National Army, on November 2nd last, and who is at present stationed at Seán Connoly Barracks, Longford, although several applications have been made to the Assistant Chief Paymaster at Portobello; also whether he is aware that Mrs. Gormley and her family of four young children are dependent upon this soldier's earnings for their livelihood, and as a result of the long delay in dealing with their claim, Mrs. Gormley and her family are reduced to a state of terrible distress; further, will he cause enquiries to be made into this case, and have payment made at the earliest possible moment.

Mrs. Gormley's application has now been investigated and arrears of the allowance assessed have been paid.
