To ask the Minister for Finance what proportion of the estimate of £97,613 for 1922-23 for Reformatory and Industrial Schools goes to Reformatories, and how many of both kinds of schools there are in the Free State.

I would refer the Deputy to the Estimate for Reformatory and Industrial Schools, which is to be found on page 7 of the printed Volume of Estimates for Public Services. Sub-heads D. and E. show the provision made for maintenance of youthful offenders in Reformatories and maintenance in Industrial Schools, respectively.
There are in the area of Saorstát Eireann 4 Reformatories and 53 Industrial Schools.
