Vol. 2 No. 33

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - GALWAY SHOOTING.

To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a boy named Patrick Keyes, aged 10 years, was shot by a National soldier at Galway, on or about the 17th August, 1922, that as a result the boy's right hand was amputated, and his left hand is very much injured, and that this boy is, in consequence, a cripple for life; that he was detained in hospital until November 20th. Will the Minister say if steps have been taken to investigate this regrettable occurrence, and whether the Military Authorities have yet considered what compensation will be paid to this boy or his parents on account of the terrible injuries which he has received.

Enquiries are being made in the case, but they have not yet been completed.
