Vol. 2 No. 33

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DEPENDENTS' ALLOWANCE.

To ask the Minister for Defence if he is aware that no dependents' allowance has yet been paid to Mrs. Margaret Hynes, of Crow Street, Gort, on account of her son, James Hynes, who joined the Free State Forces some five months ago, and who is now in the Transport Section, Galway; that several applications for payment have been made without result, and will he see that this claim receives immediate attention.

No applications from Mrs. Hynes for payment of the allowance have been received at G.H.Q. Her claim is, however, now being investigated locally and an early assessment will be made.

To ask the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mrs. O'Grady (wife of Vol. O'Grady, No. 40536, who joined the Free State Forces on 15th November, 1922, and is now stationed at Renmore Barracks, Galway) has made repeated applications for dependents' allowance due to her and her four children, but so far without result; and whether in view of the fact that Mrs. O'Grady is now in straitened circumstances, he will see that this claim is immediately dealt with.

No applications have been received from Mrs. O'Grady at G.H.Q. The claim has now, however, been settled and payment of the allowance is being made.
