Vol. 2 No. 33

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - DETENTION OF WM. CAHILL.

To ask the Minister for Defence if he can state the reason for the continued detention of Wm. Cahill, in the Female Prison, Cork, although his release was recommended by the local military authorities some weeks ago.

Mr. Cahill is detained on the ground of having engaged in intelligence work for Irregulars. He was employed by them in Cork Barracks when they occupied it. His release has not been recommended by the local military authorities.

Is the Minister aware that I received a letter from Commandant Scott on the 2nd of this month saying that his release had been recommended?

My information is that his release has not been recommended by the local military authorities. I will have further inquiries made in the matter.

I will forward the communication to the Minister.
