Vol. 2 No. 35

[WRITTEN ANSWERS.] - CLAIM FOR COMMANDEERED MOTOR CAR.

To ask the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a new Ford car was commandeered in Urlingford, from Mr. Wm. P. Walker, on July 14th, 1922, by Commandant M`Carthy of the Second Southern Division, that this car was afterwards captured by the Irregulars, that, despite several applications, Mr. Walker has yet received no compensation for the loss of his car, and will the Minister give instructions that this long overdue claim is immediately dealt with.

The car was commandeered by our troops and captured by Irregulars as stated. It has only recently become possible to deal with claims for compensation in respect of commandeered motor cars. Mr. Walker's claim will receive early attention.
