Vol. 2 No. 38

DAIL IN COMMITTEE. - DAIL RESUMES.

The Criminal and Malicious Injuries (Amendment) Bill, 1923, is reported to the Dáil. When does the President contemplate to continue the consideration of the Bill?

I would like to do so at the earliest opportunity. I understand from Deputy McCarthy that we might adjourn next week, if permission were given to alter the programme with regard to the Griffith Settlement Bill, and take the Committee Stage of that Bill on Friday. We would adjourn next week, and see if we can finish for Passion Week at latest. I do not know if that will be possible, but if not, I would undertake to introduce the Budget on Monday or Tuesday of that week.

The Griffith Bill has been ordered for Committee on Tuesday next. I take it there will be no difficulty in taking it on Friday. There will be another Committee stage of this Criminal Injuries Bill necessary, and a second Money Resolution will be moved. On next Tuesday week we could take it up again, as the President wants to take it at the earliest opportunity. The Report Stage of the Criminal Injuries Bill is ordered for Tuesday next week. The Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Bill Report Stage has been ordered for Friday. The Bill as amended in Committee will be in the hands of Deputies to-night, and also the amendments sent in by the Government. They can come on on Friday.
