Vol. 2 No. 39

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ WRITTEN ANSWERS. ] - DEPENDENTS' ALLOWANCE.

To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that no dependent's allowance has yet been paid to the mother of Thomas Charles, of Aughrim, Ballinasloe, who joined the National Army last July in Ballinasloe, and who is now (so far as his mother is aware) stationed in Bantry; whether in view of the fact that a dependent's allowance was payable to Mrs. Charles from the British Army up to June of last year, when her son was disbanded from the British Army, and that such allowance was her main source of support, he will see that her claim is immediately attended to.

Dependents' allowance has not yet been paid to Mrs. Charles owing to the fact that local investigation of her claim has not been completed. The necessary enquiries are being expedited.
