Vol. 2 No. 39

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ WRITTEN ANSWERS. ] - PORTARLINGTON PRISONER.

To ask the Minister for Defence if he can state the reason for the arrest of Daniel Flynn, Emo, Portarlington, on the 13th January, 1923, and for his continual detention in Portlaoighise Prison; if Flynn denies having any connection with the Irregular Forces; and, seeing that he is prepared to give the usual undertaking, if he will favourably consider the question of having him released at once.

Mr. Flynn's name appeared in despatches found on Irregulars who were captured, and, on being arrested, he stated that he had been a Battalion Adjutant in the Irregular Forces, but had severed his connection with them some time previously. There are, however, grounds for believing that he was still working with the Irregulars. It is not intended to release him at present.
