Vol. 2 No. 40

DOUBLE TAXATION (RELIEF BILL).

Before that is taken up I desire to say it is my intention, this evening, to ask permission to introduce a Bill called "The Double Taxation (Relief) Bill, 1923, First Stage." It is an Act to authorise the making of arrangements with the Government of Great Britain for granting relief from double taxation, wherever there is a charge both to a Free State tax and to a corresponding British tax, in respect of the same subject matter. I intend at the end of to-day's Agenda to move for permission to introduce this Bill. It is a pressing matter. In the ordinary way I would have moved it next week; but, as we have decided to adjourn over next week, it is necessary that this Bill should be introduced today.

The President will move for leave to introduce later on when the title has been circulated.
