CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - YOUTH'S ARREST.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Edward Meniman, Archerstown, Delvin, Co. Westmeath, a youth of 17 years of age, was arrested by National Troops and lodged in Dundalk Prison, no charge being preferred against him; whether the Minister is aware that this prisoner is prepared to sign the usual form of undertaking; further, if in view of this, and of the fact that this youth is in delicate health, he will issue instructions for his immediate release, or, in the alternative, bring him to trial.

The prisoner's name is Edward Merriman. He has signed the usual form of undertaking. The advisability of releasing him is being considered.
