Vol. 2 No. 46

[WRITTEN ANSWERS.] - TUAM MERCHANT'S LORRY.

To ask the Minister for Defence if a motor lorry was commandeered last September by National troops from Mr. John H. Corcoran, Grocer and General Merchant, Tuam, whether this lorry was used by Mr. Corcoran in the course of his business to collect eggs and sell goods in the rural districts, whether in consequence of the seizure he has been very badly hampered in his business, and whether the Minister will see that this lorry is returned as soon as possible, and compensation paid for the period of its detention.

A lorry was commandeered from Mr. Corcoran, and is now in use in Tuam as an ambulance. The possibility of returning it at an early date to Mr. Corcoran, and the question of paying compensation to him in respect of its detention is being considered.
