Vol. 2 No. 46

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - RESIGNATIONS AND DISMISSALS FROM R.I.C.

To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether the Committee of Enquiry into resignations and dismissals from the R.I.C, which was set up by the Government in November, 1922, has yet concluded its work, and if not, when it is expected to do so? How many claims have been received and how many finally dealt with; whether he will favourably consider introducing legislation at an early date to give effect to the promises made by the Government, pending final Report from Committee, as many of those men are in financial distress.

I am informed that the Committee hopes to present an interim report of its work about the middle of next month, and to be able to furnish a final report by the end of May.

1,085 applications have been received by the Committee, and of these 830 have been finally dealt with.

The question as to whether legislation on the matter can be introduced without waiting for the final report will be considered when the interim report is received.
