asked the Minister for Defence whether it is a fact that the National forces, on the 22nd December last, took a Ford motor belonging to Mr. Dan O'Brien, West Street, Tallow, to place a guard on a broken-down armoured car; whether the car was to be returned next morning; whether he had it in his possession only ten minutes when it was taken from him by the military, and in driving towards Fermoy was run into a broken bridge at Clondulane and smashed into matchwood; whether the officer in charge, as promised, held a Court of Inquiry into the accident; and when and whether will Mr. O'Brien, who has but one other car to earn a living, which car the National forces use and threaten to take from him when they desire, be compensated?

The car was commandeered as stated and damaged. Mr. O'Brien refused to accept it back. I am informed that no promise was made to hold a Court of Inquiry. The car is at present in Fermoy Barracks. The question of compensation is receiving attention.
