Vol. 3 No. 2

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - BILL TO PROVIDE FOR SALARY AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

I do not know whether there would be any objection if I asked for permission to introduce this Bill now. The Constitution provides that a salary should be paid, but I understand that a Bill will be necessary in order to regularise and legalise. We are ready to send the Bill to the printer, and I should be very glad to be allowed to introduce it now. There is nothing unusual in it; it is simply a Bill to enable us to follow out the provisions of the Constitution.

Question: "That leave be given to introduce the Bill," put and agreed to.
Ordered for Second Reading on Wednesday.
