Vol. 3 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - A KILBEGGAN ARREST.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the military arrested Patrick Boohan, of Kilbeggan, on Friday, April 6th, 1923; that the military wrecked the prisoner's mother's house, and stole various articles; and further asked what action the Minister intends to take in the matter, and if he will release the prisoner.

Enquiries are being made in this case, but they have not yet been completed.

I think I cannot accept that answer as satisfactory.

That does not arise.

This matter is too serious.

The Deputy cannot make a speech at this stage.

Well, I will give notice to raise the matter on the motion for the adjournment.

Deputies will, I think, understand that questions reach me with regard to incidents in different parts of the country. These matters have to be inquired into, and it does take some time to get the information returned.

Would you be able to give me a satisfactory answer to-morrow?

In this particular case, as soon as I have the information, it will be sent to the Deputy with the fullest possible details.

I accept that reply.
